Constantly unwell 1 year old

I'm writing this as i'm sat at my desk contemplating whether to stick pins in my eyes to keep them open. My 16 month old has been unwell and up all night for the last three nights, screaming and restless, tossing and turning and coughing. She has been fine for a few days but before this, had a week long flu (which she was tested for in A&E and results came back as flu). The week before this she had a stomach bug which was passed around the household. We've just moved house this weekend and I wasnt sure if it was part of being unsettled, teething, another chest infection - but I feel like the illnesses are never ending. Has anyone been in the same boat with their one year old? She usually goes to a childminder in the week but between me and my partner, we've had to take annual leave and days off to stay off with her. I feel so drained and miserable.

I had back to back mat leaves so went back When youngest was 10m and eldest just 2. DH didn’t work for longer than 3 weeks straight in first 8 months due to one, other, both or us being ill.

It was a nightmare, these days HR publishes guidance to managers which says to expect this in return to work but sadly I just got into trouble.

@Phunkychicken It's bloody hard work!! I'm returning to full time work in April, to a new job, so i'm worried about the impact it'll have on that. I'm hoping with the warmer summer months coming we may be over the worst of it - who knows! I'm also worried about how sleep deprived I am in the office. I can barely keep my eyes open this morning.

I made a massive, massive mistake when in the thick of it which almost cost me my job. I don’t think people realise how debilitating the sleep deprivation can be.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful but solidarity at least

My DD went through this at around the same age (probably due to first winter in childcare!). Lasted about 4 months before it calmed down and then it was fine after that

@Badlegg I'm hoping we'll come out the other side soon! It must be the first winter in childcare. She will be joining a nursery in April with more children and I'm dreading it 😅 bring on the summer months and some good quality sleep. This period of time has almost put me off having anymore children, i've found it so tough.

This is childcare. Doesn't last forever, hang in there.

My 19 month old is the same OP, we have had bronchiolitis x3, flu two weeks ago and lots of colds and stomach bugs in between. My three year old has been much more robust this year though so crossing my fingers next winter will be better.
