Normal child thinness

This is a weird one.... But does anyone else feel like this?!

For context - we are all slim in my family - I am borderline skinny - , no health issues and we prioritise a healthy diet.

My now 5 year old was a large baby and a chubby toddler (one of those huge toddler tummies). She leaned out over time but kept chubby cheeks and a bit of a tum until well past 4. Now at 5 she has shot up and seems so skinny to me! She's absolutely not scrawny and possibly has a bigger build than many other peers but her ribs and chest bones are much more visible and she has no tummy any more. It just feels so sudden and I occasionally have flashes of worry about cancer, though she is in great health generally! She also seems ravenous at the moment....To make matters worse her 2 year old sibling has the same baby chub she did so the contrast feels intense!

Anyone else feel like this?! Is this just anxiety taking over?

You are meant to be able to see the ribs of young children. If you can't and they are older than a preschooler but still pre puberty they are probably a bit chubby, so she sounds perfectly healthy.

Nothing you say would worry me, although I understand it's a shock when the transition from chubby toddler to slim child seems to come in one growth spurt. As @Springadorable says, you should see ribs on a healthy child her age.

If you think it would help you, you could measure her weight and height and put it into the NHS bmi calculator for children. Anxiety is a tricky thing, though, so only you can say whether seeing the numbers come out as healthy would help you or not.
