If it is, does anyone have any experiences they can share?

My DD is 8, she has always been good at brushing her teeth but she used to go to bed with a milk bottle until she was 3 (it was the only way she would go to sleep, we didn't know it was bad for their teeth and stopped as soon as we were told).

She has regular check ups but is terrified of the dentist so doesn't normally let them have a proper look.

I would reverse image search your photo and get an emergency dentist appointment. At 8 I’m assuming those front teeth are adult teeth.

No this is not decay this is , probably, MIH. https://www.kch.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/pl-1074.1-molar-incisor-hypomineralisation-mih-in-children.pdf

It’s important she keeps regular check ups with the dentist , check her back teeth after she has brushed because it often affects their first adult molars and most importantly be careful about what she eats and drinks inbetween meals,

No this does not need an emergency appointment , just regular checks, care with diet and cleaning .

But you are right these are adult teeth.

Yes they are her adult teeth. I feel so awful like I've let her down but they've only recently become like this.

She's terrified of the dentist and doesn't let them look properly (I'm talking sobbing, won't talk, won't go near them) so I'm worried she will do this again on her next check up in 2 weeks.

Take the photos with you when you go to the dentist. Also try to take photos of her very back teeth as it is likely they also have MIH .

Does she go with you for check ups as well? Have you tried practicing with a mirror etc ?

The dentist is likely going to want to put some fluoride on her teeth (painting a varnish on the back teeth) so you need to start preparing your daughter for her appointment.
