worried about clenching teeth and shaking in toddler

Hi All,

My LO will be 17 months tomorrow.

I am a first time mum and he was full term.

I had no problems during pregnancy or birth.

My son doesn't talk yet, he is walking though. I think he has always had poor eye contact, but recently he makes a bit more which made me happy.

However, recently I've noticed that he does this thing where he clenches his fingers inwards and shakes body for a bit.

He also clenches his teeth a lot now and shakes during this.

For example, when he is coming to my breast to breastfeed he will do this thing where he clenches his teeth right next to my nipples and shake and even pinch at my stomach and then stops and latches on normally as if nothing happened.

He also tightens limbs a lot and stands upright when doing so.

He also started doing this thing where he shakes his head side to side sometimes as if meaning no.

This is all really worrying me.

I recently went GP for this and showed videos and they referred him to a specialist which I'm waiting on.

Someone on mumsnet kindly suggested it may be epilepsy as I reached out to her after a post she made under someone else's thread. She kindly gave me suggested questions to ask at a specialist appointment.

If anyone else has any advice here I'd kindly appreciate it.

Great that you're already seeking medical advice. If it's happening regularly when he's about to breastfeed could it be excitement?

thank you xx
Erm, the thing is, I've noticed it happens even regardless of breastfeeding time. It's such a horrible feeling always being worried about your child and not being able to enjoy them
