I’m 99% sure it’s a corn. Today she’s saying it’s painful.
am I better off trying to get a GP appointment or just waking into a pharmacy?
I don’t want to waste the GPs time if a pharmacist can help
whats the treatment for a corn ?

Best treatment for a corn is to get it enucleated (removed) by a qualified person such as a foot health practitioner or podiatrist. Over the counter treatments are either not successful or can damage the surrounding skin.

In my experience corns aren't dealt with on the NHS now. You can make an appointment with a podiatrist (there's probably one in your local town) who will remove the corn. A basic treatment session will cost £40-70 depending on where you live. If you can afford it it might be worth paying for an assessment to work out why she got the corn (gait analysis). It could be as simple as a particular pair of shoes causing issues or it could be a sign that she would benefit from insoles in her shoes.

I've had corns since being a teenager..A switch to really sensible footwear (I wear running trainers designed to offset overpronation if I'm walking anywhere) has helped a lot and I now only need to see the podiatrist every 8 months ish.

Also helps to wear good socks that are at least 50% cotton or wool rather than anything 'supersoft' which tends to slide around on dry skin and cause more friction.
