Testicle Torsion infection!

DS had testicle torsion surgery on Thursday night into Friday Morning. Everything seemed fine, and we came home Friday. We went back to the hospital via 111 yesterday he had spiked a fever up and down with Calpol. There, we saw the surgical team, who found a lump and sent him for an ultrasound, which was most unpleasant for him. It shows everything down there is aggressive and inflamed. He has an infection in both epididymis, which they said is most unusual. He was started on co-amoxiclav yesterday; his fever has been fine for the last 24 hours, and he has been well enough to pop to the shops with us today, he came back, had a nap, and now has another fever at 38.4 and feels cold and wants a blanket. I have taken away the electric blanket and given a light one instead . He was also vomiting in the night

I don't want to feel like a nuisance, but at what point do I take him back to the doctor? How long do I give the antibiotics time to work? Sorry I am really anxious as he only seems to be going down hill

i would go back asap. Did they give you contact details of the ward to go back to? Otherwise a&e

No we dont have a contacct number. 111 sent us to the urgent treatment centre and they sent us to see the surgeons in the same day emergency care unit. Maybe Ill give 111 another call. I dont want to be the one to waste their time. Sorry really good over thinker here

Not a waste of their time at all. Hopefully they'll reassure you but I wouldn't risk his health and/or future fertility by second guessing.

He may need IV antibiotics or it could be that the oral abx haven't had long enough to work, but it sounds like he needs to be seen for them to decide. I would at least call 111. Little ones can deteriorate quickly. Good luck, horrible for you all!

Thank you I have called 111 they said the clinical advice service will call within the hour
