Someone please just give me some hope I’m so stressed I can’t function , my 10 year old since sept has had a limp in one leg then it became a weekness in his arm and hand on the same side , doctor was useless and made me do it as two separate issues and make another appointment!!! Didn’t take me seriously and Had X-ray on hips all fine (obviously 🙄 ) I went to see another doctor who said im referring it for urgent peadeatric appointment (great so helpful ) and he wanted to refer for mri but couldn’t , appointment comes thro and it’s in fucking June !!!! And that’s a urgent referral , in the mean time it’s got worse and now he can’t run and often stumbles and falls doesn’t use the arm hardly at all , have taken him back and they’ve now booked a mri brain scan for next weekend , which happens to be on his birthday of all days 😭 he’s mental health is shit as is mine and he’s obviously worried , how long does a brain mri scan take please ? And has anyone ever experienced issues like this and it not be something life threatening, I also have a toddler so am still having to be normal and do normal stuff where as I just want to lay in bed and cry

Managed to get out of the ward for a couple of hours yesterday with dh and toddler to have lunch etc in hospital, was really nice but also extremely sad as my poor toddler was so excited to see us and then so sad at the end , was also very emotional just all being together tbh think it made everyone really sad and made him really want to go home so we had a bit of a sad emotional night and he started really freaking out about the op etc and thank god the too nurse put us in a side room last night as she said it’s ridiculously loud and you both need to sleep , he’s had to be woken a couple of times for the observations and tests they do but other than that he’s had about 10 hrs sleep so I’m so greatful as i could hear the babies in our original bay screaming all night😢, unfortunately we may be moved back today but I really am praying we don’t , think today and the next 2 days after are going to be horrible I just can’t wait to see him after his op and know everything is ok

I'm so glad he got a decent amount of sleep. I hope you got some too, OP, or at least a rest.

ArabellaScott · 02/03/2025 07:18

Cross post - that's normal! You'll have been in shock. Hope you have a peaceful day today.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 02/03/2025 07:20

Glad you've had some sleep and hope that you get to keep the side room. Thinking of you all.

That’s good that you had a couple of hours with your toddler and DH @YourRubyMaker

Im glad your boy got a bay to sleep in and slept for so long. That will really help him feel a bit stronger.

I really hope that you’re getting support in real life and that your DH will be able to be with you tomorrow. I know people who have managed to leave the hospital whilst waiting for long operations - I also know people who’ve been unable to leave the waiting area for the whole time. If you want it, I hope someone is able to be with you so you have company and a hug xxx

Cudz · 02/03/2025 07:44

Sending you so much strength and love for tomorrow OP. We will all be thinking of you and DS and praying for a successful operation xx

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 02/03/2025 07:59

I am so pleased you could all get out yesterday, and had some good sleep x

watersoul · 02/03/2025 08:05

I'm thinking about you all the time. No advice apart from keep reaching out and lean on loved ones as much as possible.

lukelovesu · 02/03/2025 08:21

I'm glad you both got more sleep and I really hope you get to stay in the side room. Like so many of the posters here, I've been thinking about you and your son so much and hoping for a successful operation. I hope today is as calm as it can be for you all. Sending you lots of love xxx

icanatilldancetowhigfield · 02/03/2025 08:26

Thinking of you so much. So glad you got some time together as a family yesterday but can understand it would be so very tough too. Thank goodness he's had a decent sleep. You must be wading through this awful time minute by minute, it's now just one more day before the op, though it must feel a very long time to you. Sending love

CorsicaDreaming · 02/03/2025 08:31

Just logged on to see how you are doing. I’m so glad you got some sleep. Thinking of you up in Scotland and sending positive vibes for the op xx

BananaBubbless · 02/03/2025 09:37

They should keep him in the side room when he needs rest before surgery tomorrow. Hopefully afterwards he’s moved to a more appropriate ward.

Neddevine · 02/03/2025 09:41

frumpyfifty · 02/03/2025 10:07

Is he into tik tok? You tube? Would he want to make a tik tok about this experiences then might be fun to keep seeing how many views/comments it has had? I'm trying to think of anything that might distract you both today and be fun?

Changed18 · 02/03/2025 10:08

Thinking of you all. I’m glad you got to have a birthday lunch. It was the small moments of normality/fun that I still really remember as the bright points from my DC’s time in hospital/illness.

Diagnosis was also on a Thursday and then there was an operation on the Monday. What I remember 10 years on about that weekend is that we watched the Minions together. Another time we had a couple of hours when we could go to a toy shop and a playground.

We also had hours sitting around in wards and waiting for doctors/nurses - but that’s not so much what I remember now. I also remember having a day out of hospital with my other child when we did all the fun things from normal life.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

MyNameIsErinQuin · 02/03/2025 10:21

My son had a 10 hour brain surgery last week, planned elective so not exactly the same. Please feel free to message if you want to ask anything or ask on here. It will be a long day for you, remember to eat/drink and get out of the hospital for some time. Thinking of you

I can’t pm but the surgeons told me to go out for the day tomorrow . Do they call you regularly for updates or do you call them ? I’ll probably just hang around the hospital anyway but I know the wait will be agonising and I won’t do well without updates
