Is it possible to prevent acne?

Not sure where to put this but...I suffered with horrendous acne from age about 10/11, right through my teens until I eventually went on the pill at about 15. It really was awful. I was a shy and awkward kid anyway, and was so self-conscious about it. My mum and brother also had it badly. My eldest will be 10 in March, and I've noticed some tiny red spots on his nose. He's autistic and quite introverted like me, and I don't want him to feel the way I did! I just wondered if there's anything we can start doing now, that might help? I'm absolutely rubbish with skincare so don't really know where to start. Is he best sticking with plain water? Or starting to use some sort of gentle facewash? He has beautiful skin so far. (Obviously, he'll be beautiful to me no matter what, but I know how much I struggled with my acne and would like to help him avoid feeling the same). Thank you.

Yes, I will share my routine for my acne if that helps:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Merit or LRP moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel
