7yo complaining of tummy ache

My ds 7 has recently been regularly complaining of a tummy ache. He said it was before he goes to sleep for a while but now it seems to come and go now regularly. I have asked if he's worried about anything or if he wants to go to a doctor and he says no. Am I right to just see how it progresses? Or what would you suggest we do. He doesn't typically tell us at the time... More this morning my tummy was hurting. Only once or twice has he told us at the time. So it doesn't seem like he's wanting to avoid school. Any suggestions welcomed

My gut feeling is anxiety, especially if he’s complaining about tummy aches at the end of the day when he’s processing the day.

Or it could be enlarged lymph nodes in his tummy - had he been poorly recently?

On a different note, my DC have coeliac disease and tummy aches were one of the (many) health complaints they had pre-diagnosis.

Thanks.. I feel similarly that anxiety might be the cause but not sure what I can do about it

I’m going through similar so completely understand 😣
for my daughter it’s been in ongoing Since September. I think Some are anxiety related and some not. She’s also had blood on wiping about twice a month. They thought it was coeliac but calprotectin test normal so not that. I’m at a loss, still under a gastroenterologist who doesn’t know what it is. Not much help but just want you to know your are not alone x

Definitely ask for a coeliac disease test. We were fobbed off for several years with dd and tummy aches. They were always put down to anxiety (which she does have, severely) but after a blood test, it was confirmed coeliac.
Hope you get answers.

I would also keep a diary of bowel movements and make sure they are going everyday. My son struggles to poo if he is anxious and this gives him really bad tummy aches. So it all becomes a bit of a cycle, as he can't poo so gets a tummy ache and feels even more anxious

It's useful to keep a diary of food, bowel movements to check there are no patterns
