Short frenulum in teen

Hello,

This is a personal topic, but I am hoping someone might have some insight.

I have done a some research online but havent found much about this condition in children.

My son, 13, has been complaining of pain in his penis. After discussing it, we think he might have a short frenulum. The pain only occurs when his penis is erect, and he has mentioned that it also bends at the tip.

We have private healthcare, and I have booked an appointment with the GP tomorrow to request a referral.

I am wondering if this is normal and whether it is something that might resolve on its own as he grows. He started puberty early, at around 10 years old, which seems younger than most of his peers.

I understand that in adults, this could cause issues, like the frenulum snapping. Does anyone know if he will likely need surgery for this?

Thank you in advance for any advice or information!

There are various stretching exercises that can be done for frenulum breve. A GP can prescribe a steroid cream that makes this easier

Can he retract his foreskin? He also needs to do this regularly for hygiene reasons. As his penis develops during puberty the foreskin and frenulum need to be retracted so they stretch over time.

There's no reason this can't be resolved by the time he is sexually active

When I was younger no one told me this and I had similar issues but it was resolved within a few months with stretching exercises.
