Two Undescended testicles at 26months. Is it to late?

Hi
I know this post is really old now but I'm having major anxiety about my son. He was diagnosed with having 2 undescended testicles which he had surgery done at 2 years and 2 months old. I remember trying to speed the op up but unfortunately covid was still around and there was delays. He's 5 now and I've noticed his testicles are small, which they have always been and been reading google and going down a rabbit hole with depressing stories that I can't seem to stop reading about. I suffer with health anxiety as it is
I just fear he had it to late and worse because it's both of them that was affected. im concerned about his fertility and risk of cancer when he is older. Any positives stories from mothers who have had children that are older and starting families would be really helpful as I'd like to hear some positives instead of negatives
I'm just a worried mum in need of a little support 😢 Sorry for the long essay!

My dad had the op at an age where he could remember not being allowed to ride a bike because of it. Not sure on exact age but probably more likely 4-6+ than 2. He had 2 kids, second of which was a surprise as my mum was on the pill and was originally a twin pregnancy but they lost the other baby. He had a vasectomy soon after.
He went through puberty ok. He's only small about 5ft6 but he was only 1kg a birth 3 months early and his family are small - his nan was 4ft8 and his sister is 4ft11 so it's likely to be genetic/prematurity driven.
The only complication he had was developing a cyst in the scar tissue aged 50 something and needed a quick operation to remove it.

My son had one undescended but had the op at a few weeks old. It was smaller than the other but no problems went through puberty as normal

The earlier the better for fertility. You won't know that until he's old enough to consider fertility testing. There shouldn't be a problem with his puberty though.

DH was extremely late to have his surgeries - aged 4 for his first surgery, then they had to be redone at 7 and 9... He is 100% infertile, not a single viable sperm found during testing, so we can't (and don't) have kids.

Unfortunately this was the norm in the 80s, and fertility wasn't a consideration back then. That changed with clinical evidence in the 90s.

Thank you so much for the messages. Appreciate it ❤️ I think the hardest part is the not knowing.
