Am I worrying too much?

I have a 13 week old, who has had colic, reflux and an inguinal hernia.
We've had his reflux under control and managed it well for a long while now. He's keeping feeds down and is gaining weight (he's still very underweight at 10lb 2oz, but he is gaining each week).
We've been through the worst of colic, with hours of crying through the day and night, not settling in any position, clenched fists etc, and now baby is more settled.
In November we discovered the hernia and since then, he has been crying hysterically in the car seat and pram. He goes red faced, breathes heavily, kicks his legs, throws his arms and wont be settled or self settle in any way.
He won't go on his tummy for tummy time at all. He will just put his face on the floor and cry. It's only recently I've been able to play with him on his play mat on his back (I have to put the play mat on my bed because he wont lie on the hard floor or on a rug) and that will only last a couple of minutes before he cries again.

I took him to a hospital A&E last night as the crying and signs of pain were getting too much. They did an examination on him and said he will need to see a paediatrician but wouldn't refer us because of our postcode. Safe to say, I was livid after waiting 4 and a half hours!

The doctor tried to say it is colic, but we always wind him really well and wait at least 30 minutes after a feed to put him in the car seat or pram and this problem only seemed to start when the hernia popped up and has continued after his repair surgery.
Surely if it was colic, the crying would be more than just in the car seat or sat in a similar position to when in the car seat?

It's really distressing hearing him cry in what sounds like agonising pain. As his mum, I know what his cries are now and this sounds so different to when he was having his little colic kick-offs!

My GP (who has been useless unfortunately) has said his cries sound intense, nurses have said it sounds like more than colic and friends and family have said how much he sounds like he is in a pain.

Am I being too much taking him to the dos toes and wanting a referral because it could just be colic, or does it sound like more?

Why won't they refer you? Can another GP arrange a referral? What your both experiencing sounds horrible and the team in A&E seemed to think it required further investigation. If you are worried there's more to it then keep pushing.

Why can’t your GP refer to paediatrics? And have you been giving regular pain relief?

wrt the tummy time, use an ergonomic sling/wrap instead as this uses the same muscles but is comforting too.

I really don't know. I ended up in a different hospital and got a referral, thank god. Paediatrician and dietitian too

Nope, no pain relief!

I've tried a sling. He takes a long time to settle in it and I have no idea why.

Oh thank goodness. Hopefully you get some answers very soon.

Do you think is his inguinal hernia causing him pain? My LO has one and I think it really annoys him at times

Colic is unexplained crying.

Has anyone suggested allergies?
