Weaning ?

My daughter is 6 months old and we've recently started weaning her, as a first time mum I feel like I haven't been given any other information on when I should be given her more than just milk. my health visitor told me to pick the same time everyday ie morning, dinner or evening and give my daughter more than just milk. The thing I'm struggling with is do I give her the meal before her milk, instead of her milk or after her milk. we are using the Ellas kitchen purees and have also started on the Heinz baby jars silly because its easier for us. I feel like eveyrtime I go to give her one of the pouches she's preferring her milk over it. I have tried making it more of an afternoon/evening thing as mornings are a little difficult to be adding in giving her a pouch.
Sometimes she will take a pouch between feeds but then I'm worried that I'm overfeeding her by giving her pouches and milk throughout the day. We've also tried with giving her some of the food we've been eating - i.e yoghurts, mash and gravy but again it's hard to do this everyday.
Does anyone have any tips on how I can make it easier and when I know to give her a pouch/jar over milk.
Am I doing something wrong ?

Water the fruit and dessert pouches down with her milk and spoonfeed her from a bowl maybe, maybe the consistency of the pouch is too thick for her?

And also you don't have to stop milk feeds, just give less

She likes the pouches but I think because she’s had her milk she’s turning the pouch away. Do I just give her less milk & then finish off with the pouch ?

For now food should be given 30 to 60 mins after milk.

She should be on 3 meals a day by 9 months and snacks after 12 months.

You need to also start introducing finger foods. A lot of finger food stuff on the market aimed at babies is highly processed but you can give toast, cooked carrot baton and brocoli so much healthier.

Have a look at some of the information from the link I've put below. From what I remember, if you are breastfeeding, give solids about 30 mins after a feed but if formula feeding, give solids before milk. They don't take much at first so don't worry about the amount. I wouldn't bother with pouches and jars though (it's all heat treated to make it shelf stable so the nutritional content of them is questionable) just give small amounts of soft vegetable sticks/toast fingers/fruit etc. Mash an avocado or banana in a bowl and give them a fork to explore it. Bowl of scrambled eggs usually goes down quite well. If you want to do purees, make your own...just boil some up and blend and put in ice cube trays and melt a couple at a time. It doesn't need to be elaborate. They can't have honey under 12 months but apart from that, they can basically have anything else.

I always gave milk an hour or so before food (and I formula fed) e.g.
Milk at 7, 11, 3, 7 and Food at 8, 12 and 5.

As solids increase they will reduce milk themselves. First foods are about new tastes and textures not to fill them up.

I gave milk first initially, then food. I reduced the amount quickly and did a little milk - food - rest of milk if still hungry. Then did food followed by milk, which they usually didn't want much of.

That’s a really good way of doing it ! I always miss the morning one as mornings are so stressful but if I know she’s going to have a bottle at a certain time I can always make sure she has food atleast an hour later and she’s still getting “breakfast” I’m formula feeding aswell.
