Dear all,

My LO has been ill recently and also we just moved into a new rental house.

The first 2 days he was unsettled but he still was eating and also playing.

However, the last 3 days I would say, he has not been eating at all, even porridge which he loves. He will have just maybe a few blueberries these past few days but no other food apart from some ready made food pouches but by me literally forcing him some spoonfuls.

He doesn't take bottle so only been breastfeeding.

He will wake up middle of the night like usual and sometimes stay awake 2 hours and want to be rocked to sleep after being nursed.

These last few days I feel like all he has been doing is, sleeping and drinking my milk. He doesn't want to play. Maybe few minutes of the whole day but that's it. It's really upsetting me because I hate to see him like this. I'm so worried about him not eating too.

He is teething aswell, like 2 or 3 teeth including molar are popping through gums.

Has anyone been through these phases with their LO.

Please advice.

Thank you

My little boy is currently like this. He is sleeping the majority of the day, eating a very small amount and not interested in playing. He currently has the flu and will take a little while to get over it.

Is your little one still having plenty of wet nappies? Do they have a temperature? If still not themself tomorrow then might be worth phoning the gp to get a check up or speaking to a pharmacist.

Awww hugs to you and your bubba, it sucks seeing them like this isn't it. Especially being a first time mum I just don't know what's normal and what isn't.

Yes, he is having wet nappies thankfully. No, he doesn't have temperature anymore, the first 2 days he did but then no more.

I wanted to book GP but their app is a new version and needs NHS login and what not and when i try calling placed on a queue and I'm number 30 on queue!!! I've been to A and E in the past just because of not being able to get hold of GP.

I hope yours and my boy get well soon x

Don't panic. One of the great things about breastfeeding is that when they're ill and off their food they can still get lots of good nutrition to keep them going until they're well again. They can still live off breas milk for a while at this age if needed, so keep feeding on demand until they get their appetite back. Breast milk has analgesic properties as well as antibodies so will help them recover.

It sounds like it's either a bug (sore throat perhaps?) or it's painful to eat with the teething. You could try giving Nurofen an hour before a meal to see if that helps, it's better for teething than Calpol.

Worth trying to get them in to see the GP if it continues, or call 111.

Does your new rental place have a gas boiler or gas appliances? If so is there a working carbon monixide monitor in all the rooms with gas appliances? It's unlikely but important to rule that out a carbon monoxide leak as a cause given it started as you moved and it will make little ones more poorly than adults.

Oh also try submitting an e consult on your surgery's website if that's an option. Often they have a separate allocation of appointments they can offer off the back of e consults.
