6 month old not rolling over

My daughter will be turning 6 months old on Friday and we’re a little worried that she hasn’t rolled over - either belly to back or back to belly. She doesn’t like being on her belly but we’ve tried her with tummy time & we’ve tried lying her on a blanket on the floor to see if she’ll roll back to belly.
she’s got to the stage of being able to sit up but with help from others but we’re just a little worried that she’s not even attempted rolling over
Is there anything I can do to get her rolling over ? Is it something I have done wrong ?

Hi my son was exactly the same and I was getting quite worried, and he hated tummy time as well at 6 months.

I brought a big play mat from Smyths and brought a few of those musical mats with a piano and he used to love kicking the piano.

One day he when I was changing his nappy I think at around 7 months he started turning onto his tummy mid change.

Now he loves tummy time and is close walking 14 months.
He does tummy time when I'm holding him, changing his nappy, in the cot lol.

I think every baby is different and the guideline is simply that... a guideline.

Try not to worry I'm sure your LO will be rolling over in no time Grin

One of mine never rolled, or nor until much later, long after crawling. Crawled around 7 months, now in school and absolutely fine.

Hi,
I was just considering posting the same thing! Our baby is 6.5 months and showing no signs of rolling! She also hates tummy time!

She can also sit and loves being stood or bouncing.

We wondered if she might go straight to walking?

Glad we are not alone! My first rolled at 3 months.

We literally feel like we’ve tried everything, we have one of those playmats with the keyboard at the bottom with the arch of toys above but baby girl has got to the stage of trying to sit up when laid down so she’s become uninterested in it as she’d rather be sat up playing with her toys.
We’re just going to keep an eye on her and see if she’ll just naturally do it.

I wouldn’t worry too much at 6 months (but I know that is hard to hear). My baby was very behind with all his gross motor skills and could only balance sitting up at 14 months (no rolling, pulling up or cruising - if you held him to stand he was on the tips of his toes like he was enpoint). We had all sorts of assessments and he was so behind the health visitor referred him to paediatrics.

He walked at 16 months - just did it all at once! He is 2.5 now and can run, kick a ball accurately, jump, hop - all the normal stuff.

hope that is reassuring. Xxx

Our daughter is literally the same we’ve had to buy her a walker/rocker as she prefers to be on her feet or bouncing.
We think she might go straight to crawling as she’s showing signs of trying to push herself forward when she does want some tummy time.

100% as a first time mum I feel like I’ve become too “she should be doing this by now” and I should just be looking at the fact she’s happy, healthy and showing signs of being a little advanced. I think she’s just going to be a baby that misses certain things and she goes onto the next thing - misses rolling but goes to crawling or walking.

Yeah you nailed it. Take a breath and step back. Babies haven’t read the milestone manual about achieving things at certain times. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself or baby. If she is happy, healthy, responsive and engaging I’m sure she’s fine. All sounds completely normal
to me!
