How can I get my 2 year vaccinated for flu?

My DD is 2 but missed the cut off date for the nhs flu nasal spray as think it's end of August and she was 2 in September. I've called the GP practice and they've said she's not eligible and tried a local pharmacy to see if I could pay for it but they said they only do private jabs for adults not kids.
She goes to nursery and is picking up all kinds of bugs and viruses and with all the scary stories about flu in the news I would like to get her protected. Has anyone else overcome this? I'm struggling to see a way.

Seems a bit of a flaw in the system that she is young and vulnerable, technically old enough for the flu spray vaccine which is licensed for 2+ but has no way of getting it!

Two of my three qualify for the Jan on NHS for other health conditions and I’ve never been able to find a way for the other sc to get vaccinated so they don’t bring it the home. Superdrug would do the injection once they were 12 privately but that’s no good for you.

I don’t think there’s a way, sorry

Thank you for your reply, it's so frustrating isn't it. I would happily pay for it but they don't seem to allow that either! My older 2 were the same but it didn't really concern me too much at the time, I guess it's just with all the news about this being a particularly bad flu season and that poor little baby that died on Christmas Day that's worried me a bit.

When did she have her 1 year jabs as they include a flu jab.

I would agree there does seem to be a gap for autumn born children after age 1 if normal vaccine schedules are adhered to. I wonder if the flu jab given at 1 year could be repeated for that particular group?

She had her one year jabs in September 2023 (around the time she turned 1) but I don't remember that including a flu jab? In any case is well over a year ago.

I was told by a dr that they only vaccinate otherwise healthy children to stop them spreading flu to the older or vulnerable people.

She said that's why it's a nasal spray as they can't justify a jab when the protection is not for the child but to stop them spreading it to others. No idea if that's true but might be why you're struggling to get it privately!

My little boy was 2 in October I asked for him to have it too as he gets a lot of viruses but they said they can’t cos he missed the cut off. Very annoying but suppose they have to cut off at some point
