I have a 2 week old breastfed reflux baby who cant eat for more than 10mins or throws up the entire feed ,not just spit up.So due to this is getting hungry every hour to hour half if i am lucky ,as he cant keep down a full meal.I have tried health worker advice pumping to bring down milk flow and sitting them up for a bit before bed no luck.

The pharmacy gave me carobel ,but how do i give this without a bottle. The dosage says 60ml with 3 scoops yet without a bottle that's impossible to feed.I tried a oral syringe but the carobel quickly sets after a 5ml syringe.Last night i only tried 1 scoop with 20ml but was barely even able to give one syringe. After this i allowed him to feed longer but still threw up whole feed .

Next i tried half a scoop but no effect clearly he needs more but i cant get it down .I will be trying to doctor next if after trying this for a few days does not work

We gave gaviscon when breastfeeding and mixed it up in a syringe after a breastfeed. She wasn't very good at feeding so we would have lots of failed feeds before she would actually feed. We did try carobel but my daughter is allergic to carob beans so stuck with gaviscon but it's the same principle a powder to be dissolved. I would start with the amount for 1oz and go from there.

Has anyone mentioned cmpa to you? It might be worth trialling going dairy and soya free?

My daughter has multiple food allergies making reflux worse as well as reflux which required high doses of multiple medications to control.

My first daughter had reflux not as bad as this no dairy allergy

It might be worth trying to see if it helps or going to the GP to discuss omperazole.

My mum didn't realise my sister had a dairy allergy at birth until my sister was in her 40s! My daughter reminded her of my sister. My sister was frequently sick until she turned 40 and became vegan. She's not been sick since. She was readmitted for forced feeding at 10 weeks when she was less than 1lb over birth weight.

My daughter was nearly 5 months old when her cmpa was diagnosed as she didn't have classical symptoms.
