Hi all, been to GP twice about my baby’s eye. First said it was infection so gave me anti biotic drops, did nothing. Second said it was just eczema and gave me a fucidic acid and it wasnt until I got home and read the leaflet it said do no get in eye as it can cause glaucoma ?? My son is only 9 months so it is very likely he would rub into his eye. I feel it’s getting worse and not better and now slightly appearing on other eyelid. Just looking to see if anyone has seen anything similar on their babies.

That looks very like patches of eczema my child gets albeit not by her eye. Not sure how you could treat it that close to his eye tbh

That’s the issue I keep running into when researching creams. If it was an adult it would be easier as you could make sure does not go in eye.

I had eye eczema for years, a short course of steroids won't give him glaucoma, it's long term use.

However after my experience of steroids I wouldn't use them at all on my children unless a very extreme case.

I would concentrate on keeping it very clean and using an emollient. I would wipe with hyppchlorous acid twice a day- it's safe for children and feels no different to water on sore skin.
