Mild Chickenpox experiences

My little one (18 months) has chicken pox, but has about 15-20 spots only. No temp and is absolutely fine in himself. If it wasn’t for the actual spots you wouldn’t think anything was wrong with him!
It’s been like this for three days. Is the worst yet to come, or is it a mild case and he is likely to get it again in the future? 😬

My DD was around 9 weeks old and caught it really mildly. The dr said she’s probably get it again as she was so young but she’s 10 and we still haven’t had it again despite being exposed multiple times.

My two had it simultaneously and pretty mildly. Id say may be 30-40 spots, not very itchy either apart from DD whos back was uncomfortable. I don't think we had much temperature problems either. We had it at ideal ages too 4 and 2.

I think if it's been 3 days and it's still mild then I doubt you will see it suddenly get very bad. Most of mines sports formed over the first 2-3 days.

My eldest got chicken pox when she was 3. Other than the spots she didn't have any symptoms at all, and the spots didn't seem to bother her in terms of being itchy.

It was definitely chickenpox though.

Mine had it all between ages 1 and 6. They all coped well, like your child, and have never had it again.

Both dds had it incredibly mildly, with about five or so spots that I could see. They had a cold and were a bit off before I saw the spots. They both caught it again a few years later when it was going round their school again. More severe the second time but still not bad and neither of them were very poorly with it.

It took about 6 days for DD1 to finish developing spots.

Mine had it when he was about 7 - about a dozen spots, barely itchy and not unwell at all. He randomly got shingles a couple of years later, but again, that was very mild - just a bit of a rash, which he said tingled a bit. He's 17 now and has never had it again.

DS had it very mildly first time around. He caught it a second time a couple years later and was covered in spots.

ICouldGoOnAnon · 20/12/2024 21:34

DS was exposed to chickenpox (sibling) when he was 11 months old. 2 weeks later, he developed a very mild rash which didn’t blister.

We kept waiting for blisters, but they never came and the GP said it wasn’t chickenpox.

He was exposed a number of times after that, but never caught it. We were planning to vaccinate him as he was getting older, but when he was 10 he needed an unrelated blood test and the GP agreed to add a test to see if he had antibodies. He did, so the rash probably had been a mild case of chickenpox.

My son had it mildly first time I can't remember his age just under a year I think and then got it again at about 3, it was worse the second time but not awful

Haynesy · 22/12/2024 19:29

Thank you all! Definitely a mixed bag if he is likely to get it again.
They’ve all scabbed over and have nearly gone. I’m amazed with how painless his chicken pox experience has been. Fingers crossed he’s in the group that don’t get it again!!! 🤞🏻

My twins had it at 6 months old, and I thought that was that, then they both had it in Reception (along with the majority of DTD1's class), DTD2 caught it slightly after DTD1.
