Baby virus - has anyone experienced this symptom before?

Please if anyone has experienced anything similar or has any advice I would be so grateful.

My son 4m has come down with a virus, he has a rash and high temperature (rash does disappear). The thing I am struggling with is he cries uncontrollably when anyone picks him up to comfort him, like he’s in pain. I’ve tried to be so gentle with him using different ways of picking him up but no matter what I do he just screams. The GP said as long as he’s feeding and wet nappies they aren’t worried but it’s so distressing wanting to comfort him but in doing so making him even more upset.

He's very little and so very hard to assess. It sounds like he's in pain.

Have you undressed him and looked for any lumps/bumps/marks/hair ties etc.?

I think it might be sensible to get another assessment from a GP/Walk in or A&E if he is distressed by touch - today.

Thank you for your reply. The GP last night checked him out for me and couldn’t see anything. Apart from his rash his skin is smooth and clear.

I made it clear I was most worried he was in pain, if it were just a rash and temperature I wouldn’t have taken him in. I must have sounded crazy, I mentioned how worried I was at least 6-7 times. They said that because he does settle eventually they aren’t concerned. It’s so hard when they can’t tell you what’s wrong, last night the only way I could sooth him was to stroke his face.

It is so tricky because he's young - it could be the virus, it could be teething, but it could be something else.

I know you saw the GP yesterday but if he's still very difficult to settle after having painkillers /still seems to be in pain, I really think a second opinion mightbe worthwhile.
