Travel insurance for child if waiting for test results?

Not sure the best place to ask this but does anyone have experience getting travel insurance if your child is waiting for test results? We need travel insurance for a European trip but DD has been referred for genetic testing due to having low muscle tone. Not sure if we would need to declare this? I can't even select a condition from the drop down list as there is no specific condition she is being investigated for but it does say to declare things we've seen a doctor for in the past year.

Yes, you need to declare it. If you can’t find it I would call them.

I was in a very similar situation a couple of years ago, and we got insurance through StaySure. You do need to declare it.

In a similar position recently and used Staysure. Good service from them. Obviously cost more than a standard online policy.

Yes, declare everything.

Speak to your proposed insurer.
My child has low tone aka hypotonia.
Her actual diagnosis is never listed as its so rare so insurers said to list associated symptoms instead.

Thanks all for the tips. I'll look into StaySure. I guess we cannot easily get quotes online.

@CCLCECSC Did you find listing hypotonia increases the cost of insurance much?

We got insurance through Avanti after a phone call. They would not cover the condition for which DC was due to have tests, but it was a 1/4 of the cost of getting it covered with another insurer (which I couldn't afford). DC was covered for everything else.

TBH it was very frustrating as so many people are on waiting lists for tests, often for conditions which won't lead them to need emergency care on their holiday.

No it didn't.

This may help I've used all clear and staysure. You'll probably need to ring but always found them helpful. We've used them for both waiting lists and previous excisting conditions (I think waiting lists are what put the price up more).
If you have travel insurance linked to a bank account it may be cheaper to use that and have an add on (it was for my parent).

I always use the Post Office travel insurance

And of course you'll have your GHIC card
