Is my toddler too sweaty?!

Ever since he was born, my DS has had a super sweaty head whenever he's tired / gone to sleep. I'm talking hair wet with sweat. Our GP had said it was a newborn thing and he'd grow out of it, but he's nearly 3 and it still happens every day. Tonight he's got a cold, and after falling asleep his head literally looks like he just got out of the bath.

Google has ominous results, so I'd like to get a steer if this is something I should pursue more with our GP / a paediatrician please?

My 3 year is the same. He could be sopping wet after being asleep for an hour. I read it’s just an immature circulatory system and they’ll grow out of it. Nothing really to worry about.

One of mine was like this when he went to bed. Absolutely soaked including his pillow. Never really got to the bottom of it so obviously wasn't anything sinister.

I would say if you're concerned about it though to go back and have a chat with the GP.

Thank you both! No one I know IRL has had a child with night sweats, so eases the worry to hear of others.

My son was like this but has mostly grown out of it now at 6. He still gets a bit sweaty occasionally but did used to look wet through when he was younger!

It’s not something mine have experienced but having been a Reception TA for many years, there are always some very sweaty children.

Fellow parent of a sweaty child here. My DS’s pillow used to be soaked by morning and he’s always needed his hair washing in the morning due to getting so sweaty overnight. He’s almost 10 now and still gets very hot at night, even in a cool room in winter. I too used to really worry about it but he’s perfectly healthy, just very sweaty!

DD was like this. She grew out of it. She's 17 now and has always been very healthy, very rarely ill. I think it's just the way some kids are. I definitely wouldn't worry if there aren't any other symptoms or health issues.
