On hold to 111; any advice in the meantime? Worried FTM of baby

On hold to 111; currently 20 minutes into what’s a predicted 68 minute wait, so wanting advice in the meantime.

My baby is 4 months old (will be 5 months next week). She was happy this morning and took a full bottle of formula at 6am, as usual. However, she was up most of the night babbling and giggling (we’re going through a sleep regression). She’s gone very fussy, crying a lot and only happy when being held, which I initially put down to her being tired. Her head feels hot to touch (hands and feet aren’t cold), rest of her body is fine (temp feels normal, no marks on skin). I’ve taken her temp and it’s coming out at 37.8, so not quite fever level. She’s also not taken a full feed since 6am. She usually takes between 180 and 210 mls of formula every 3 to 4 hours, but has only drank 40mls since 6am. She’s refused every bottle.

What could this be? I can’t see any swelling in her gums and she isn’t dribbling, so I don’t feel like it’s teething either.

She's probably just got a touch of a bug.

I wouldn't be panicking. The most crucial thing is making sure she's not dehydrated so I'd try milk little and often, if necessary using a Calpol syringe. Provided you can get some into her, and she's still doing wet nappies I'd give her Calpol and if necessary get her checked out by the GP tomorrow. It could be something like a ear infection as they makes them miserable.

If you can't get get her to drink anything even after Calpol then she needs medical attention today to stop the dehydration.

It's horrible when they are ill. Hope she's in the mend soon.

I’d give some calpol tbh and wait and see. The important thing is if she is having wet nappies still. It could be the start of a virus, 37.8 isn’t really a high temp but if she’s miserable I would give some calpol.
