My 5 year old DS is now on week 6 or 7 of a seemingly never ending run of viruses. Started with a D&V bug which was intermittent and lasted almost 3 weeks. This was quickly followed by a regular cold and has now turned into a horrible head cold/puffy eyes/cough. He is totally drained bless him - really pale and tired looking. We’ve taken him to doctors twice in that time and both times they were lovely and very thorough checking him over but agree that he’s just been unlucky.

He hasn’t had a full week at school since the beginning of November. Both parents working full time and the childcare situation has been STRESSFUL.

Any other parents out there dealing with this just now? Any advice for boosting his immune system? I miss my cheeky, energetic boy.

What's his schedule like, is he resting over the weekends while he's unwell? Try to cut everything back while he recovers.

It's very normal to have the odd horrible patch, all you can do is rest and be as healthy as possible.

All the basic infection advice can help avoid the spread of viruses so try to enforce handwashing, ventilation etc.

Thanks - we have stocked up on multivitamins recently. The powder looks like a good option though.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, we have really scaled back everything (no sports clubs or swimming, etc) Trying to stay positive and remind myself that it will end, but it’s such a sinking feeling every morning seeing him unwell 😫

Has anyone else on the household caught these illnesses off him? I’m only asking as we went through this with my daughter and it turned out she had a food allergy. Obviously could just be a bad patch regarding multiple viruses but just thought I’d mention it as I hadn’t even thought of it being an allergy until the GP mentioned it on the 3rd visit! Sending healing vibes x

Oh this is so interesting! None of us caught the d&v bug, which we did think was strange as we also have a 1 year old. We’ve all had this latest virus though, but it’s definitely something I will look into if this continues! Thank you!
