Tiny mark that doesn’t disappear on toddlers neck

Don’t know if I’m over reacting I do suffer
with health anxiety and everyone in my family thinks I’m being silly :( as usual .. but my 3 year old son has a mark on the back of his neck and it doesn’t disappear there’s a tiny bit on the side of his neck too he’s had it before on his arm .. but 111 said it was just trauma from playing .. but it’s really got to me and I could burst into tears after reading the internet I don’t even think it’s pastachiea.. does anyone have any ideas please??? Xx

I don't know what pastachiea is but the tiny mark in your photo looks like absolutely nothing to worry about. No one's skin is completely monotone and blemish free there will always be little marks here and there.

You mean that brownish line? Looks like birth mark or something?

It’s not a birth mark it’s only come today .. and it’s really tiny to see that’s why the picture isn’t good :( but yes it is the brown looking line in real life they look like a row of brown dots x

It's...really nothing. Is your skin just beige and smooth like an egg? Of course not. It's just normal looking skin.

I wouldn't be worried about this. Kids' skin marks really easily. You could do that by pulling clothing across it too vigorously.

Yes my parents said it will be from his tags in his clothing .. he does have sensitive skin but I just worry about everything and need reassurance and to see if anyone as anything similar because when I googled cancer just came straight up and my heart sank

It's not Petechia. Have you got support for your anxiety? It's hard work isn't it?

I agree it's not Petechia. For context, I have had bacterial meningitis with septicemia (as an adult) - and can tell you it's not the type of rash associated with either. I'm sure it will go. Children very often come out with rashes, and the majority of the time it's absolutely nothing to worry about.

Sweetie it looks like nothing at all to be worried about.
It's so hard being a mum. I was scared to death half the time when mine were little.
I hope you have some real life support

It doesn't look like petechiae to me. If he is well in himself and has been doing all his usual activities then I really wouldn't worry- easier said than done though I know. Keep an eye on it and if it hasn't disappeared in a week then contact your GP to have a look at it but it looks harmless to me.

i always feel such an idiot when I panic about things and people tell me it’s nothing but yet again I need the reassurance are I’ll loose my mind :( It’s a vicious circle my mind really is my worse enemy

That is just very ordinary skin. Skin marks very easily, especially kids skin. Nothing to worry about.

Yes he’s well he’s had a bad cold 2 week ago then a week off and now a minor cold but it’s to be expected he’s still playing, snacking and being his usual toddler self ❤️ xx

It just looks like a few freckles to me. I'm sure I've probably got something similar im a very freckly person :) health anxiety is absolutely awful, there's no need to feel embarrassed or like an idiot for your worries. I've had bouts of health anxiety throughout my life and it's horrendous! Definitely try and speak to someone about it if not already, I had talking therapy when mine flared up and it did help to challenge those thoughts and calm myself down. In the mean time though I'd echo what everyone else has said and say it looks like just normal skin blemishes :)

@LIZS yes my family think so it’s just it’s flat and you can’t feel anything and I panic because it seems to be under the skin and he’s had it before on his arm .. but it went away the following day I just think because it looks like a bruise and doesn’t go away iv panicked and I do every time even when he’s got a little cold I take to the extreme :(

How can you tell it’s not petechia from those photo? Only asking as my ds occasionally has these red marks on his neck and sometimes his legs, that don’t fade when pressed. They usually come after a virus for ds.
Hes been checked out multiple times when they appear and the doctor and hospital staff agreed it was petechia on my ds, but they weren’t concerned as he was well in himself.
unfortunately I’ve also seen the meningitis rash first hand, and that was much more wide spread and much brighter purple/red.
I think if your child has marks that won’t fade it might be worth speaking to gp or pharmacist, if the child is fine and well in themself, then I’d just monitor and phone the gp tomorrow. I think seeing the gp will hopefully put your mind at rest. But if your child’s condition worsens or more spots appear I’d take them straight in. Not to worry you, just trying to help.

@mammatobee yes it does look like freckles but it’s not that’s why I assumed it’s was petechia but soon as a googled it, it sent me over the edge and fetched up the C word and I hate to even think are Google that 😭😭 I do need therapy because I don’t want it rubbing off on the kids and them having a a miserable life thinking the way I do when there older :(

@Misspacorabanne did your child have to have blood tests when he got them ? If there still there tomorrow I will call the GP and go get him checked anyway x

The gp send me up to the hospital with a form for a blood test for ds, and when I got there was told by the doctors up at the hospital that after checking him over, looking at the petechia, doing few observations on him, that they didn’t think a blood test was needed. Ds was happily playing and chatting away!
I did ask if they were sure he didn’t need one, as the gp at the surgery advised it, but they said that for a very small number of petechia there was no need. The doctor at the hospital asked how often he got them and said if it was anything concerning he would be getting them more frequently and have more of them. He also said as ds was otherwise well in himself there’s no need to put him through a blood test.
So he didn’t get the blood test, and that was about a year ago now, and fingers crossed he hasn’t had anymore since.
Hope this reassured you, but do have him checked out if you’re worried for peace of mind!

Yes I will have him checked, was the rash just tiny like the picture I provided I no it’s not very good.. I wouldn’t even no weather to call it a rash are a mark!! I hate the not knowing i just wish I new what it was 😞

I can’t see the photo very clearly. But it was as you described it. Red marks that are under the skin and don’t fade. Each single petechia was very small but I’d say he probably had 7/8 of them in total. Very spread out though, so not like a rash.
It was the fact they didn’t fade though that made me have them checked. How many does your ds have? Does he seem ok in himself?
