Has the Covid jabs caused my baby to be poorly all the time?

I had the Pfizer jab in May 2021. Fast forward to June 2023, my son was born. Since Jan 2024 he’s had a constant wet/chesty cough all day everyday! It’s got that bad that he coughs that much that he’s throwing up anything he’s eaten that day whether that be milk or food! I’ve been to the doctors multiple times, been on a ridiculous amount of antibiotics all of which don’t work! He’s had chest X-rays which came back clear and were currently on stronger antibiotics to see if that clears it. I’ve got it into my head that he’s poorly because I had the Covid jab before getting pregnant with him, anyone else have similar problems with there baby/children after having the jabs?! I’m losing my mind here and feel like I’m failing him as nobody is taking this cough seriously!

Sorry to hear that your baby is poorly. Highly doubt the Covid vaccine has anything to do with this. mRNA lasts a very small amount of time in the body and therefore would have been well out of your system before you were even pregnant. A friend of mine is having a similar issue with her 8 month old and they are looking at baby asthma and trying her on inhalers which seems to be doing the trick currently. Hope they can find something that works for your baby soon!

The jab would have left your system long before you became pregnant, and the remaining effect (immunity, whether whole/partial, enduring/fading) would be exactly the same whether from the jab or the wild virus.

It is possible that your DS had covid in Jan 24, and that could - possibly - result in long symptoms.

It wouldn’t surprise me.

What sometimes seems to happen is you have a child who is susceptible to a particular infection.
My older two had a few infections of different varieties.
Ds just had ear infections, but he got them about every 10 days from 10 weeks old until he had grommets in at 20 months old, then they started again as soon as the grommets fell out. His friend was similar to yours but with chest infections, and ended up being diagnosed asthmatic as well. They're now 18yo, so nothing to do with Covid, and they both aren't ill anything like as much, but if ds is ill, he'll have ear ache, and if his friend is ever off school, he'll probably have a chest infection.

Why would the Covid jab give your baby a cough three years later? Realistically most of the women with babies will have had the Covid jab... are all other babies suffering the same? No.

It sounds more like asthma to me. Mine had recurrent coughs and breathing problems with colds until he got an inhaler age 2.5 (born pre-Covid).

I stopped taking boosters after the first one as I have my doubts however I don’t for one second imagine it will have anything to do with your baby’s ill health at all.

Nothing to do with the jab. This is very common for some kids. My eldest was born well before Covid and was in and out of hospital every winter til we got her on the right steroid inhalers.
Hang in there. It improves as they get older.

UpUpUpU · 24/11/2024 19:18

Of course not and ignore anybody who says otherwise. Some kids are just born prone to illnesses.

Pancakewaffle · 24/11/2024 19:22

If it's any consolation I hade mine at the same time (while I was pregnant) and my DS hasn't had any adverse effects so far (hopefully he never will!). I highly doubt the two are connected. I say that as someone who would not have it again during pregnancy (or at all tbh) so I'm not being blasé about it

I love the fact so many are adamant that it isn't the Covid jab! Please prove it. It has damaged so many people.

By what mechanism could a jab received by the mother 5 months before the conception of a baby, which was born in normal health, be implicated in the baby's illnesses after the age of 7 months?
