Had blood and stool tests at doctor, all came back negative.

Some possible food and outside stress triggers for upset stomachs, we have removed these and stomach upsets have reduced.

Still often complains of pain, sometimes all over stomach sometimes below belly button. Overall very sporty and eats a good diet, with minimal processed foods. No antibiotics in the last few years. Anything else to test for and try? Thanks.

Hello, with regards to blood test all depends on what the gp class as normal. Some gp’s don’t request the right blood test because of cost. With the stool sample that would be tested for inflammation again that depends on what your GP class as a normal reading which should be anything from 50 and below.

I know all this because our gp fobbed me off for a year with my daughter only for her to be diagnosed with crohns disease.

I am not suggesting this in your childs case but just to make you aware to keep pushing if the stomach pains continue.

My DS used to randomly vomit at primary school

His GP put it down to being overexcited

Which it actually was

It was annoying for me because I'd have to pick him up from school due to sickness policy

He was never actually ill

He grew out of it so it lasted 6 months or so

If you get nowhere with the NHS I'd suggest going private for a consultation to see what the issue is ie twisted colon, crohns etc etc then you take that info to your GP who if necessary can refer you on

Keep a diary of his diet too

hurlyburly1 · 24/11/2024 21:59

Thanks @Lbet Will ask to see the actual results.

@LilacLilyBird Have kept a diary and removed a problem food and similar (was a very processed meat snack food he rarely ate), so taking that and similar out was not going to cut any nutrients.

Probably a very unlikely reason but after years of minor tummy aches mine was found to have only one kidney when an abdominal ultrasound scan was done after an accident (aged 8). That may not have been the cause of the tummy aches, but I have always wondered if it was. No idea why it wasn't picked up on routine scans in pregnancy, but this was a long time ago. It hasn't caused any problems, DC now a healthy young adult.
