Should I be concerned for my 2 year olds speech?

For context I have a 4 year old daughter who has autism and couldn't speak till she was 3 she showed heaps of signs and it was really obvious in her,

fast forward to now I have another daughter who turned 2 is September, she dosnt show any signs of autism. She interacts, she can copy actions we do, she was name animals and but he speech isn't great, she can say a lot of words but her spontaneous speech is mostly gibberish, if you point to a sheep she will say sheep but a lot of what she says you can't make out, she's also starting adding an -a to the end of random words so e.g Bluey-a

mummy-a

im starting to worry now that because she wasn't just like my other daughter I've maybe over looked something.

Just turned 2 is still tiny. There's an absolutely massive variation in "normal" in terms of speech so I wouldn't panic. I know siblings where one was talking in sentences at 18 months and another hardly saying a word at 3 - teens now, no SEN, neither can shut up. Grin

Keep an eye given the history of SEN in the family but if she understands you and is progressing I wouldn't be worrying yet.

Does she go to nursery? My son's speech wasn't great until he went to nursery and then it suddenly exploded. He is now on the waiting list for an ASD assessment but back then it wasn't a concern. Loads of kids who have delayed speech don't have autism so it's not a definitive link

She's starting nursery in January, she can talk in contact which is something my 4 year still dosnt do, so if a toy falls behind the sofa she will say "gone" and she tells us to "wake up" int he morning, so I don't feel to concerned I follow this girl on Instagram and her son is 2 months older and talks to her in full sentences and it just gets me worrying

Our eldest said about 10/15 words until he was about 2 yrs 8/9 months when he started speaking in complete sentences . As it panned out he was diagnosed with bilateral moderate deafness at 6 and had taught himself to lip read very effectively . He is autistic but high functioning and has a first class degree .
