DS 22 months has had bouts of eczema all his life behind his knees, though none for a good while. Over the last few days his eyelid has gone from a small rough patch under his eyebrow to basically covering the lid. It looks very red, dry and flaky. I have been using his dermol 500 on it but to no avail. I have spoke to the dr who wasn’t very helpful in putting anything more on and said he would consult with dermo but can’t for 2 week as their system is down 🤔

he doesn't seem bothered by it fortunately, haven’t even seen him itch it but I am just worried as it seems more and more everyday.

Thank you in advance

also today seems to have a tiny cut on , I think due to the dryness

Bless him. Due to it being on his eyelid, I don't think there's anything stronger you'll be able to put on it, just try and keep it as moisturised as possible until you hear from the derm. Have you tried coconut oil to seal in the moisturiser? I find it really helps with the dryness, which in turn soothes the itching. He is probably scratching it at night, so make sure nails are as short as possible.
Also, have you spoken to a dietician about anything that might be causing his flare ups?

I get it on my hands and eyelids (bizarre postpartum thing I developed!) and they prescribe me hydrocortisone cream for the eye and a strong steroid cream for the hands. I'm not sure it can be used on a child's eyelid though! Probably worth asking a GP. I hope it clears up soon x

Absolutely try and avoid steroid cream if at all possible and if you do consider using, look up steroid withdrawal syndrome.

@Twodogsandababe thank you , that’s what I thought. I haven’t tried coconut oil but have heard good things, any in particular or does it not matter? And we used to be under a paediatrician and dietician as he was suspected egg and definitely milk allergy. But we completed the ladders a good few months ago. He hasn’t had any body eczema like he used to for a good year too apart from this on his eye.

Thank you for your comments
