Ingrown toe nail

My daughter has had a mild ingrown toe nail since January. We went to the GP in January who just fobbed us off, so we paid privately where the podiatrist just told us to keep soaking the area then said to just keep rubbing oil on it. We did all this, but nothing helped. Went back to the NHS doctors again over the course of the next few months where again we were fobbed off so many times.
Eventually we got an nhs podiatry appointment where this podiatrist said it wasn’t an ignrown toe nail. So I just kept up with soaking the foot as much as possible as my daughter was still complaining of pain.
So over the course of the months between April up until recently we kept going back where we were told it’s not ingrown, but also not given any support of what it might be. Then last week went back again where a doctor then proceeded to tell us it is ingrown and slightly infected as there was some yellowish brown mark on the side of that toe!! But we were told it’s “only mild” and again told us to take the anti biotics and soak the foot and move the skin downwards but none of that has helped.
It’s been nearly 11 months now of going back and forth and I’m honestly exhausted from being thrown from pilar to post. I honestly don’t know what else to do anymore. I just want to take the pain away from my poor daughter :(

I’ve attached a photo to show the issue with the foot. It’s red and still slightly raised on the left side.

We’ve had a few of these at various times and the cute has been no shoes as much as possible and really wide shoes the rest of the time. Weirdly n my brothers case anti thrush cream helped as well.
It is really painful though

We’ve been trying to keep shoes off as much as possible and have let her wear sliders or we have some wide toe shoes.
I am so baffled by why doctors aren’t doing anything about it though. I’ve booked in for a different podiatrist next week in the hope that they may be better, but I feel like I’ve lost absolutely all hope lately :/
