Heavy / hard blinking

Hi all,

My son has been what I can only describe as 'heavy / hard blinking' for weeks now.

He notices it and says he can't help but do it and frustrating him. He's getting himself very worked out about it.

My oldest son has ADHD / ASD and has had tics before (mostly whilst being medicated for his ADHD).

Middle son is NT and we've never had any issues before.

Has anyone had a child / themselves experience something like this?

He can't think of anything that's bothering him (besides the blinking) so I don't think it's anxiety.

Thank you x

If it’s sudden it’s more likely to be fatigue, dry eye or a vision problem. Take him to the GP

Interesting, thank you. He already wears glasses at a very strong prescription and was recently tested again, so I'll get in touch with the GP x

I had this as a child and used to feel self conscious when people would comment on it to my face. Not really sure what caused it, felt quite tic-like? Seemed to just grow out of it really! I'm neurotypical and have had no other issues growing up.

I remember feeling something similar as a child but I'd smile repeatedly to tense the muscles in my face. I did wonder if it was something similar.

I could never explain why I did it either now I think about it.

Now I'm doing it again Blush

This is a common facial tic for kids.
