Is this normal amount of food for 6 years old ?

Breakfast
Water, cheerio’s and fresh organ juice

Lunch rice , biscuit, plum and 5 grapes

Snack 3 prunes
Dinner pasta and wings
1/2 Doughnut
1/2 figs !
plus 1.2l water

he woke up and vomited and now I am thinking he overate ? I was pushing lot of fruits today because he hasn’t been regular this week with poo so just to ensure he doesn’t get blocked. I am now panicking I might have overdid it and irritate his stomach 😭

That seems like not much to me, where’s the veg? My 5 year old eats more I’d say.

What sort of rice for lunch? Just plain rice? Or have you missed something out?

My DD has eaten today:

2 slices toast, smoothie
Yoghurt
Apple
A small halloween chocolate
Ham sandwich, cheese string, cherry tomatoes, pepper, cucumber, strawberries
Beef & veg stew, potatoes, dumplings
Grapes

Fairly typical for her (I’m sure mumsnet recoiling at the UPF though).

It doesn’t sound much and doesn’t sound that healthy to be honest if you were pushing fruit today as without the fruit it was a beige day that lacked protein.

im sorry to hear they’ve been sick, through Norovirus is rife currently. I think going forward you need to much more mirror the above posters feeding of their child as what you have offered lacks nutrients overall

That seems like quite a small amount to me, unless the pasta and wings portion was very large? Probably has a bug, unless there was a problem with the chicken.

doesn’t sound a lot at all. Probably just a sickness bug, or maybe the fresh ORGAN juice 😂

Can be fine. Can be not. All relative to your child and their size, growth spurt etc.

Am concerned about the organ juice though, please restrict to Halloween.

I doubt the vomiting is related.

Unless you just didn't write them on the list I'd add vegetables to lunch and dinner. The fibre in those helps to keep bowels regular. Also if the rice and pasta were both white, switch one of them for wholegrain.

My 7 year old yesterday ate:
.
Bowl of muesli with milk

Half a tin of vegetable soup, wholegrain seedef bread & butter
Strawberry flavoured Greek yoghurt

Chilli with brown rice and herby yoghurt
A plum
Chocolate ice cream

Vomitting can be linked to constipation but it is S and D season so it maybe unrelated.

With children you need to look at diet over a number of days rather than one day. What does he eat in a typical day? That example doesn’t look very balanced. He is following the centile he is born on? Full of energy?

Doesn't sound like a lot but not very healthy either a lot of very processed carbohydrates there's no veg ? Also orange juice is full of sugar unless you squeeze it yourself breakfast must have them wired to the moon with that and processed cereal

If my 6 year old only ate that she'd be starving, although she is very active and on the go. It looks very lacking in protein and healthy fats, especially lunch - plain rice, a biscuit and a small amount of fruit? I would look at adding an egg, some cheese etc as well as something like carrot sticks and tomatoes.
Obviously if this was just one day and they usually have a different diet then it doesn't really matter! I certainly wouldn't say they've been sick from over eating though...

Difficult to say without quantities given but my 7yo DD had yesterday:

  • porridge and honey
  • pasta and sauce, grapes, yogurt tube and chocolate biscuit
  • biscuit after school
-salmon, rice and veg (which she had about 2 mouthfuls of then had a banana 🙄)

Doesn't seem like much, or a particularly balanced diet to be honest, particularly if it's more fruit than he'd usually have. DS (almost 6) will eat in a typical day:

Breakfast: Porridge with berries or 2-3 homemade scotch-style pancakes (made with bananas/oats) with a dash of honey

Lunch: Scrambled egg on wholemeal toast or a 2-egg ham and cheese omelette, followed by yogurt and/or fruit

Dinner: Spag bol/casserole/cottage pie or equivalent type family dinner with a side of vegetables (usually peas, broccoli or carrots)

Snacks: Typically none during the week, though he does have free access to the fruit bowl whenever he wants it, or Babybels from the fridge. On a Saturday morning we'll typically make something like flapjack or banana bread which he'll then have as either a snack in the afternoon or after dinner Saturday/Sunday until it's gone.
