Weaning baby drinks

Hi I'm not sure if this is in the correct topic so I'm sorry if it is. My LG is on her weaning journey (she is 7 months next week). I've read up on how I should be giving her fresh/ cooled boiled water between mealtimes but she absolutely hates it so won't drink it. This is making her get constipated. So my question here is can I mix a fruit pouch (Ella's kitchen prunes or pear) with cooled boiled water or buy 100% fruit juice with no added sugar? I've researched this but there are so many sources telling me different things! Thanks in advance Smile

Can’t you use tap water at that age? I did, and there weren’t any problems.

Give the fruit separately still to help with the constipation and keep offering water. How much milk are they drinking? Water and milk are suitable for that age group so keep up with the milk and keep offering water. Have you tried adding some water to the milk?

I'd give tap water at the same time as food rather than in between meals as she will still be having milk feeds. They only take a few sips at that age. I wouldn't add juices to the water.

No it says to use fresh cooled boiled water... and okay. Her milk already has water in it as well use powered milk. She has about 4/5 bottles per day (every 4hours or so).

Tap water is fine to use as a drink from 6 months. Still needs to be boiled for formula. Where are you reading that it needs to be cool boiled water?

Thanks. I think it was either an American or Australian website. The NHS does say tap water is fine for over 6month olds.

Tap water is absolutely fine

Babies don't need juice

VioletCrawleyForever · 20/10/2024 16:55

Tap water or milk is all babies should have.

Don't start either juice or flavoured drinks at this age. It's far too young. Dreadful teeth and diet.

Garman · 20/10/2024 17:00

“Weaning journey” 😂

Just give water absolutely don’t start giving her juices or sugary drinks they’re totally unnecessary, especially so young.

Are you in America or Australia? Follow the advice for the country you are in.

Try different types of cup. My 6 month old hates the sippy cup but if I take the lid off and hold it to his lip he will sip at it.

This is most logical thing to do. If you are in the uk then tap water is fine.

She shouldn't be eating enough solids to constipate, has she dropped milk feeds?
