Half outie belly button problem? Pictures be warned

7 year olds just told me her belly button feels weird. She's moved it about a bit and it looks quite red with a possible slight scab or something on it 🤔this is a first for me, she says it doesn't hurt but she's freaked out now. Has anyone had this?
Pics were hard to focus

Is she freaked out coz you've been looking at it and taking photos of it or was she freaked out before?

hfjvhjbgj · 15/10/2024 16:54

That's what I was trying to work out. I'm wondering if she's been poking it and making it worse? Do you have any tcp you could dilute and dab on?

Has it always looked like that or has it changed?
Has she been drying it after washing?
Has it got sore and gunky from trapped flaking skin cells etc?

I'd clean it with a cotton bud and put some antiseptic on to start and see how it is in a few days.

I have sudocrem, I'm going to try that 🤔 I'm wondering if she's been poking around and irritated herself, she's quite a fidget and I think I was concerned there was an infection or something. I've never come across this before, three kids in and I still get random surprises 😂
Apologies if I sounded rude in my reply. Thankyou for answering

That's what I'm wondering, probably not drying properly or something rubbing

Probably a bit fungal, try some anti fungal cream if Sudocreme doesn't do the trick.

Godesstobe · 15/10/2024 18:11

When I was 6 my best friend's older sister told us babies come out of tummy buttons and if you touch it you will start growing a baby in your tummy. I was absolutely horrified and avoided touching it ever afterwards. To this day I cannot bear my tummy button being touched.

Has your DD had a similar scare?

Agree
They are pretty sensitive and prone to harbouring gross microbes

Wash it with antibacterial soaps and whack on some sudocream

If that doesn't work some Canesten

If that doesn't work some hydrocortisone

If that doesn't work some fucudin/ fucibet

Or go the GP if you can be bothered with the hassle!

No problem! I should have explained why I was asking in my post really. I hope it heals up for her soon.

liquidsquidli · 15/10/2024 21:02

I'd also just add to try not to touch it as they are really sensitive so I'd be tempted put a large plaster over it to stop fingers poking around or scratching if it doesn't heal in a day or so or get worse. .
