Gosh sounds rough
Anything you think may have triggered it?
How's her diet generally?
Has she literally not done a poo for an entire a week? Or it's just been difficult/painful?

No clear idea what's caused it.
Her diet is great and no recent changes.
She has had a couple of accidents, so not gone the entire week however has not done a poo properly on the toilet in over a week

Didn’t the dr give you anything?
Get some lactulose from the chemist tomorrow if you’ve got nothing else

Grmumpy · 11/10/2024 22:56

You have probably tried dates or figs

FloofPaws · 11/10/2024 22:59

DD16 has had it most of her life, try lactulose, it's gentle and can work wonders good luck

I would try get her to sit on the toilet in a very upright position for a little while and see if any luck. Regarding her couple of accidents did she fully poo herself or was it more of a leak/stain?

porridgecake · 11/10/2024 23:01

Another vote for lactulose.

Chicooo · 11/10/2024 23:03

Is it that she needs to go but it's now too hard and blocked (that's what happens with my DD similar age)

Glycerin suppository is what we've found to be the quickest and fastest fix with it.

She's gets scared to try as it hurts and then it gets worse and worse.

The suppository softens it and works in 20/30 minutes. Always keep some at home now to stop it getting to the bad levels of the past.

claireymrsd · 11/10/2024 23:03

Lactulose works for me but not my teenage daughter - she's had success with Laxido and Movicol. They're both the same but Movicol tastes better!

Did the doctor not prescribe anything ?

nocoolnamesleft · 11/10/2024 23:04

What you really need is movicol/laxido, but unfortunately at that age it's prescription only. Your GP is not following NICE guidance, which clearly states to not use dietary measures alone for treating constipation. You might find it useful to have a look at the ERIC website www.eric.org.uk

Put something on the floor in front of the toilet too so her legs are raised a bit , we use a gym step, so the seating position is more like a potty if that makes sense

Probably somewhere in between wouldn't say a full poo but a bit more than just skidmarks.

Have tried sitting her upright in toilet but no use just was in pain passing loads of gas

I will look for the recommended medication from pharmacy tmr

Glycerin suppository wil fix it the quickest. I had this after having DS and after a week or was the only thing that worked. Trick it to keep it in as long as possible and drinks a ton of water.

Yellowcakestand · 11/10/2024 23:48

Raise feet when on toilet.
Plenty of fluids.
Laxido sachets.
Eating plenty of fruit, veg and fibre.

My son ended up in a&e, cannula, bloods and 6 months of medication.

PumpkinPantz · 11/10/2024 23:52

I’d get movicol. I’m shocked doctor didn’t just prescribe it, at this stage she is going to need some help to get things going comfortably.

PumpkinPantz · 11/10/2024 23:53

Btw it sounds like she is blocked with overflow, so needs to get things moving.

fraya123 · 11/10/2024 23:58

Sounds like she is disimpacted. X

fraya123 · 11/10/2024 23:59

Or rather 'impacted' and needs disimpaction through laxido ir movicol

JC03745 · 12/10/2024 00:01

Other than water, more movement, movicol etc- the position she sits on the loo can have a massive affect on the ease of pooing. It makes a even more of a difference than diet, so get a stool, bricks, large tins or anything to lift her feet up when sitting on the loo.

Laxido and do as picture above says.
I have to take laxido every day even though I have a good diet apart from some chocolate.
I have a lazy bowel maybe your daughter is the same.
