Bronchiolitis and croup

My 18 week old has been ill since last Thursday (day 8 today) with a snotty nose, cough and just generally under the weather.
On Tuesday his cough turned croupy sounding so we went to the GP and he was prescribed a dose of steroids. This stopped the croupy sounding cough and then it changed to a hacking awful cough and retractions, fast and noisy breathing.
Wednesday we went up to A&E with him and they discharged him after a while.
They had some trouble with the monitoring, his O2 saturation was between 89-93% but then all of a sudden a different person checked and it flashed up 100% and we were sent away saying it’s now Bronchiolitis.

Since then he’s been having less than half his normal amount of milk, his nappies are a lot lighter than normal and I feel almost like we’re force feeding him! He’s coughing and breathing heavy still but less retractions!

Anyone been in a similar situation with Bronchiolitis? Thank you!

DS used to be in and out of hospital as a baby with bronchiolitis. It's horrible to watch them struggle to breathe and listening to the cracking noise in their chest. Yes, they will be off their milk due to difficulty breathing. But keep offering, little and often. How long has it been? The first few days are terrible, particularly at night. By day 4 or 5 you will hopefully see some improvement. Keep going back to A&E if you have any concerns, better to err on the side of caution. DS used to be put on the nebuliser each time and then sent home when he was a little more comfortable. Once they kept him in overnight for observations as the saturation was very low. But generally you just have to ride it out. Hope your little one gets well soon. If you notice his nostrils are flaring and chest is pulling go back to A&E.

Thank you, my DD is 3 and always had croup which clears with steroids and never really suffered with this!
We’re day 8 today and still no better really, poor lad has only had 5oz of milk today and one tiny wee! Screams every time he coughs and is just sad
