Is it safe for my 3 month vaccinated baby to hang out with an 11 month unvaccinated baby ?
Thoughts on how to navigate a friendship/situation like this ? I respect her choice however I want to keep my babe safe. I'm comfy with being out in the world and building their immunity however unsure about this particular situation.

Measles and whooping cough are doing the rounds atm because of unvaccinated children. Your 3 month old will not have been vaccinated against measles. I don't think the 11 month old will either but I am not up to date on MMR scheduling.

My then 9mo caught measles from an unvaccinated 3 year old at nursery. They didn't do MMR until 13 months then. He was really poorly and it attacked his optic nerve. So it's not risk free, but ultimately neither is life and we don't know who has vaccinated from what normally (do you ask everyone you encounter their vaccination status?). Also a 3 month old isn't really going to interact with a 11 mo so it's probably low risk there too.

It's not safe at all. Don't allow any kids around your baby until you have seen their red books. 6 in 1 plus the boosters / bcg / mmr i want to see as many shots put in to those babies as possible as young as possible to keep them safe! I don't care how much aluminium they contain or mercury or anything else for that matter. Only a dumb conspiracy theorist would care about such a thing. The drs say they are safe so we should all listen to them.

🙄 my mum is deaf because of measles. A vaccine would've saved her hearing

Totally agree with you ! Can I ask - Why is it that unvaccinated children are riskier to be around ? If they're unvaccinated can they carry a disease whereas a vaccinated person cannot ?

That is exactly it. They can catch and spread the infection because they have no immunity. Measles is contagious before the rash comes out, so you can't know if a child is incubating it and infectious. It is one of those horrible diseases that is only controlled by herd immunity.
Someone I know has had both of their children seriously ill in hospital with measles. Doesn't believe in vaccinations. One child almost died. It is extraordinary. I did some reading about it when it happened. I don't understand why people wouldn't protect their children.

I never thought about this when mine were younger - wouldn't have known vaccine status of children at baby groups. If I had given any thought, would have considered how prevalent the diseases that DC hadn't yet been vaccinated against were in the community and how much interaction DC would be likely to have - at 3 months won't be licking things.

From what I understand 1st vaccine gives most protection and boosters give the lasting benefit - plus 3 month old may have some immunity from you (especially if bf).

What an interesting and idiotic comment.

I wouldn't worry about it myself. Your child will come into contact with all sorts of people and children who haven't had certain vaccines, and you'll never know. I suspect my youngest got chicken pox from sitting in a shopping trolley, but I'll never know for sure. If you think the vaccines work, I'd relax. If you're breastfeeding, your baby will also get some immunity from you.
