Hello my daughter has an underbite (lower teeth in front of top teeth) has anyone else experienced this with their little ones? Has it resolved or has it needed treatment when they have their adult teeth? Has it affected speech or anything else?
It's not genetic, she doesn't have a dummy and isn't bottle fed. So just one of those things.
ETA I've taken her to the dentist but he didn't really say much apart from they wouldn't do anything about it. Didn't give any idea on future plans.
Many thanks!

Sorry no experience but I'd take them to the dentist as they'll give professional advice.

Absolutely nothing to worry about at this age, childrens baby teeth bear no relationship to how their adult teeth will turn out.
The jaws and face also grow enormously particularly just before/at puberty.

There will be nothing to do as you cannot predict how their adult teeth will be , until at least the age of 10 to 12 if there is a problem then.

If child is breast fed and has solid food at appropriate age than that will guide the proper growth of the jaws . There are some children who have problems with muscle tone for various reasons who will have narrow upper jaws who may need some work to help a little earlier .

Thanks so much for the comprehensive answer @Lollygaggle it's really reassured me 🙂

Late reply, sorry...
My daughter's underbite came to light at her first visit to the dentist, slightly older than your DC, I think. Dentist said it was unlikely to correct itself, would in fact get worse over time, and he was right. Hers was quite an extreme case and she ended up with double jaw surgery at 18.
I realise that's not very reassuring but the point is: ask your dentist again and get a referral to a good orthodontist as soon as DC is old enough. It may turn out to be a minimal underbite, in which case maybe braces will do the job. And that may be why your dentist doesn't seem worried. You can always seek a second opinion if in doubt.
