Looking for some advice:
DD has had her surgery for grommets insertion cancelled and rescheduled 6 times (lots of excuses from date mix-ups to staff shortages, etc.). They've booked her in again for surgery next week but she's developed an ear infection (as I told them she would, when they rebooked her, over the autumn/winter months) and is currently on a high dose (10ml x 3 daily) for five days. That leaves her 5 days to be antibiotics-free before her surgery. Would that be okay? Or should I insist we wait for surgery until the spring/Summer? My anxiety is high because the hospital staff I've spoken to so far have been terrible- don't know who my child is, why I'm calling, asking what a chest infection (when I've clearly said it's her ears), has to do with potentially rescheduling her surgery, etc. they refuse to pass me onto a doctor or nurse so that I can get a clear answer.
Are there any dangers to having surgery under general anaesthetic if someone has recently been on antibiotics? DD will be turning 6 next week if that's of any relevance and has had glue ear since the age of 2. I've been asked to wait to see if she grows out of it as she gets older until I finally insisted they put us forward for surgery.
