Slapped cheek?

Hello,

My daughter has been off her food for a few days with a runny nose. She woke up last night with a fever and has been unwell most of the day. She also has had rosy cheeks. At first we were wondering if it was teething but now suspecting a virus.

My main concern is slapped cheek as I am 20 weeks pregnant. I have had a previous third trimester loss due to a genetic anomaly so I am terrified. We saw a GP today and by then her cheeks were less red. The GP said its not slapped cheek as the rash wouldn't come and go throughout the day - is this most people's experience?

I am so scared and also sad my daughter is unwell xx

My 4 month old just had it. It seems to be doing its rounds. He had awful diarrhea for a few weeks 😅 was happy in himself but just soo much liquid poo. Few days at the start he was really snotty and hot but fever wasn't overly high. 4 days in his cheek rash came out, it didn't come and go. Looked bad for a week then slowly faded over couple days. But took ages for his poo to settle.

Adults don't usually catch it, most of us are already immune. If for whatever reason you aren't the risk of complications is small. Notify your midwife to keep an eye. But to reassure you I also have had miscarriage due to similar circumstances. Each pregnancy is very different as is your baby, there is no reason your baby has the genetic anomaly and for all we know just as healthy as any other growing baby, this time around the chances in regards to the virus are the same as everyone else.

I know the fear 😅 we all contracted covid when I was 12 weeks with my second, my daughter ended up in hospital due to it, I was terrified. But he is so different (as was the pregnancy) I has so many complications the first time, but it was textbook the second time. You just can't predict xx

Sounds like she has red cheeks because she has a fever. My eldest always gets very red cheeks with any virus.

I think with slapped cheek the rash lasts for days.
