My 6 year olds tooth is growing like this.... I'm just wondering what if anything can be done at this age to correct it? Going to call dentist on Monday but not sure really what can be done?

Braces , but not at 6 yrs old, wait few more years until all adult teeth have come in

Not a dentist, but I'd say don't panic just yet! My sons was crooked and grew far back behind the others, but as his mouth is growing its moved forward and straightened up...
I'd defo head to the dentist as part of your usual routine, for any advice they can give.

Don't panic. My kids had the same thing. The dentist said to leave them and they'll often correct themselves as more fall out etc. My eldest had teeth growing completely sideways and at age 10 are mostly corrected on their own. If braces are needed it won't be needed until most adult teeth are in.

Wait and see what happens as it grows through.

Children's teeth seem to move about a lot as they come through and settle into place. I remember getting really worried about one of DD's teeth being at a strange angle and much further back than all the others. Once it was fully through it moved perfectly into the correct space.

I was really alarmed when my eldest's adult teeth started coming through as they were so wonky! But he's 11 now and they've gradually straightened into almost perfect position. My youngest is at the wonky stage but I'm not panicking. Worst case scenario she can have braces in a few years.

My daughter is 7.5 and her tooth all came through crooked or as shark teeth (one behind the other) so she looked a bit of a state when she smiled for a while! They are starting to straighten already which has surprised me, so I wouldn't worry about rushing to a dentist at all. We go every 6 months for check ups and the dentist is happy with how they are doing.

Seaweed42 · 28/09/2024 20:58

You'll be very surprised how they straighten themselves out.

Ds1 had two rows of teeth, his stubborn baby teeth at the front and his adult teeth growing in behind. His teeth are perfectly straight naturally, he is an adult. Similar situation with Ds2. They come through in all weird directions when they start coming in. At 6 they will just keep an eye on it all but don't panic, it is completely normal. They are starting the stage of the most interesting smiles on photos for the next 6 years minimum.

LIZS · 28/09/2024 21:09

Adult teeth may well come through crooked but correct as the baby teeth come out.

mistymirror · 28/09/2024 21:21

Thank you everyone for your responses, all very reassuring! She is my first child so I have no experience in the adult teeth coming in stage (and can't remember my own growing in at such an angle 🙈)

I’ve seen that in my kids teeth and they straightened. You can’t get braces without teeth to stick them on.

Going through something similar with my child and wondered if you would mind providing an update as to whether the tooth has settled into position more?
