DS14 should I be asking for a 2nd opinion

DS has what would be considered delayed puberty, he’s 14 and no major signs suggesting it kicking in. Went to our GP about it 2 weeks ago although he seemed to brush it off a bit despite my concern. Should I be pushing for a 2nd opinion? My son is getting worried especially at school in year 10 all his peers are clearly in full puberty swing.

I honestly think the GP will progress if he is 5ft2 as that must be a low centile for his age. How tall are you and his dad?

My son is 14 and isn't showing signs of puberty yet, I'm not in the least bit worried, plenty of time yet.

5ft2 is not a low percentile for his age, my son was just over 5ft 1 at 14 and was tracking 50th percentile (still fill out his red book ha). He doesn't stand out from his friends at all many are still around this height, I think you've just got a batch of advanced friends.

@goestheweasel that’s reassuring thank you, when did your son turn 14? Did you and his mum/dad start puberty later?

Sorry misread thought you said your son was 14 and a half and at 157cm/5ft 2 that would be a low centile
