Mild cerebral palsy questions

I recently posted about our son walking on his left toes a lot, falling and having a strange walking gait. The orthopaedic surgeon today confirmed she won’t send him for an X-ray as it’s muscle related and one of the considerations is very, very mild cerebral pulsy. He’s incredibly clever, brilliant language and speech, met all his milestones on time. Walked at 15/16 months but did drag his left leg a lot while crawling. Social, independent and role plays really well. Does this sound like it could be mid CP? We have no experience of this atoll. Many thanks.

growing up i was told i needed to go swimming at least once a week to help with my muscles .Didn't affect my mind so much more so my muscles for me just a bit clumsy ,slight tremor in my hand not bad

Thank you so much for replying. When didn’t get picked up? I’m concerned it’s only being noticed now at age 3 and it could be a much worse diagnosis once tests confirmed. Many thanks again.

i born with the cord round my neck i was blue no heartbeat so very lucky ,but due to this they knew i would have issues. If there was no obvious reasons why would they know

if its cerebral palsy just keeping them active like swimming should stop it getting worst but try not to worry until the doctors confirm

Yes one of my twins diagnosis was "suspected mild CP" - she was a late walker, couldn't drawl on knees until well over 12 months, abnormally wide gait and feet turned out almost at 90 degrees.
She was referred to orthotics when she was reliably walking - so around 2 years old - she wears orthotics shoes (which are actually really nice and you wouldn't know they were NHS ones). They have hugely stabilised her balance and her foot placement is looking much better.
She is very bright, talked earlier than her twins and I have no other concerns development wise other than physically - when she is tired I notice her balance issues a lot more

Hey, do you have any updates? We're experiencing pretty much the same thing with our 2 year old son. The only concern we have is toe walking on his left foot only. He met all of his developmental milestones on track or early. He was an excellent crawler and walked at 13 months and flat footed until 17 months when the toe walking started. He is very bright and cognitively advanced. I can't find any accounts similar to our experience. There are usually significant developmental delays noted. He was full term/good birth weight. We did have a fairly complicated delivery though, which ended in an emergency c-section. We've been referred for scans, but struggling with not knowing what to expect 😔

@SpeedyBulletTrain I am so sorry you are worrying. Our son always had a limp/funny tip toe style walk on his left foot. It was apparent when he started walking. We assumed it would correct itself.

I would say that if he didn’t do it when he started walking that it may not be anything to week about atoll and just a ‘thing’ he is doing.

has your GP referred you to the children’s hospital in your area? We saw an amazing children’s doctor and consultant who ran full bloods, did a full hour assessment with him and ruled out any scary muscle or bone disorders. That really put my mind at ease.

Thank you for your reply. We have seen a consultant at the children's hospital who is pretty certain it's neurological based on his assessment. Yes, we are having bloods done and an MRI. It is odd that he seemed to walk normally for a while, but looking back at videos his left ankle was always a lot more rigid, it just got a lot more obvious around 17 months 😖

He’ll be grand. For it to be neurological I would hope it can’t get any worse than it is now through physio and exercises. Sending lots of love.
