12 week old baby struggling feeding with tongue tie!

Help!! My baby is 12 weeks old and had a severe tongue tie which has led to us getting it cut 3 times privately as it kept re attaching.

we are still struggling with her feeding as she still won’t latch her lips around the bottle properly and suddenly this week she has started arching her back and crying when feeding her and seems really uncomfortable!!
Has anyone else had problems like this? And does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

Have you tried taking her to an osteopath? I've heard they can help massively with unsettled babies.

Could well be cmpa. Arched back (prob reflux) is a classic symptom of cmpa.

When my son had this, I think I got a mild version too and the couple of spots on my toes were insanely itchy. Could you try piraton for potential itch? (There is a piraton available for his age over the counter).

Is this on the wrong thread?

Sounds a lot like my baby, who also had a very severe tongue tie which wasn't divided until 8 weeks old and took ages to heal. Agree with a pp that it could be CMPA or could also be silent reflux? Is she very windy? My mum always swears by gripe water for any gassy baby, but I've personally not tried it. DD2 started on infant gaviscon and it's made a massive difference. I did also did 4 sessions with an osteopath which helped too. If you are in London, I can recommend the osteopath we used.

Also, I had DD2's tongue tie divided privately by the same surgeon who runs the biggest London tongue tie NHS clinic. He said that any reattachment shouldn't be cut for at least 6 weeks after the initial division to give it chance to recover, so 3 divides in 12 weeks doesn't sound great. Have you kept going back to the same TT specialist? I'd try a second opinion from someone else.

We have been seeing an osteopath since she was 10 days old but haven’t really seen any improvement! I just keep being told she is full of tension in her cheeks and neck!

I was thinking it could be cmpa, she is a very sicky baby, but just in the past 2 days seems to be very uncomfortable and started with back arching and seems to be sick a lot more! But not sure if cmpa would only just start showing now?

She has had it cut be 2 different people, her 3rd cut was by someone new and that was cut 4 weeks ago now and I have been told it was re attached again.

we have been seeing an osteopath since she was 10 days old but I now just feel like we are getting nothing from it, I just keep being told her cheeks and neck are full of tension.

I am now wondering if it is CMPA but the only symptoms that she has is arched back and crying when feeding and being sick a lot which has only come on the past few days (she has always been a sicky baby though)

If she is arching her back and being sick, definitely look into reflux then. You can get two different meds: infant gaviscon thickens the milk to stop it coming up and omeprazole takes away the acid pain. It's made a massive difference in DD2. How are her poos? If they are green or mucusy, or she has a rash, I'd also have a chat to the GP about CMPA.

I have tried to stay away from getting medicine for reflux as I’ve heard back things about them but I’m not sure what else I can do now other than try them! I see a lactation consultant who advised that reflux is just a symptom of her tongue tie and once that is sorted her reflux would go, but it seems like her tongue tie will never be sorted as it keeps re attaching! She doesn’t have any rashes and her poos are also fine
