Sweating right after falling asleep.

Hi,

My little girl will turn 3 in December.
3 days ago started to notice sweating right after she falls asleep. Either for nap or night time. It's mostly her head and slightly her chest and back.

No other symptoms. No fever. She's is her normal happy active self.

Feels like steam coming out her head.

She will be sweating for around 10-15 minutes after falling asleep and then cool down, dry and be normal during the whole night.

Anyone's little one like this? Google has really made me worried sick.

Yes my daughter was exactly the same ,she was absolutely fine , can remember I was worrying but GP / HV were not remotely concerned.

Thank you! Did it start out of nowhere?. Did it stop or she is still like that?

My Ds is like this. It's annoying that his freshly washed hair gets sweaty an hour later and I need to get a pillow protector. It's only the first part of the night, never later on.

Both of mine have episodes of this. Dd2 was awful when she first had a pillow for this and dd1 get this is she hugs a teddy at all. Its also still quite warm at night too so could be they're just too hot in there covers.

She has never had this before. Even during summer, she wouldn't sweat. It just literally started 3 days ago. The moment she falls asleep, she sweats. No sweat before sleeping and no during the night. Only a few minutes after falling asleep.

I think this can be pretty normal. DS used to do it at a similar age. Clean pillow case every day Confused

SoftPillowAllNight · 09/09/2024 18:38

Mine has done this forever. She's nearly 10. Sweats for the first 30 mins, then drenched, throws away blankets, then gets cold and shivers! We've given up!

Mine does this too! Interesting to know it's quite common. Even in a cool room she gets very sweaty at first.

It was a long time ago so cannot remember the time scale. It was definitely pre school.Think once I stopped worrying I stopped checking.

My kid is sweaty too! He is 6 now and still sweats when he first goes to bed and always has done.

tealsea · 10/09/2024 12:03

mine did the same at that age - just head / chest. Think he grew out of it in early primary school but he’s still a very ‘hot’ sleeper as a teen, usually throws covers off and has window wide open all year round.

Thank you all for your replies. You've put my mind to rest! I didn't realise it is that common 😊
