Burns - cream or not?

I'm getting conflicting advice from the internet, can anyone explain?

DD accidentally got some boiling water on her arm, not a lot but enough to scald. We did running water and ice pack. Not to the level of needing hospital attention.

Can I put some germolene on to help take the pain away and ensure it's not infected? It seems logical to me but then some places on the internet say yes definitely do this and some say definitely not do this (but don't give a clear reason why).

Anyone shed some light?

I was always told to leave a burn uncovered unless its really bad. I use sudocrem on mine. No blisters no infection no scars x

Ok thanks. So uncovered (like no plaster) - but use sudocrem?

GP told us to not use cream on burns

Make sure it is totally cold (like hours and hours post the water spill) before you put anything other than cold water (or burns gel) on it.
So, if she did it last night and you really want to, yes, you can.
If she did it this morning, stay clear of everything.

Do not use cream. Never use anything other than water.

Only cold water, and run her arm under for a good 20 mins.

Let it rest, if there is still hear repeat.

But do not underestimate how deep a scald can get I believe the advice is if it's an area bigger than a 50p it needs to be checked by a medical professional

I use aloe Vera gel (v watery) and cling film on top. That keeps it wet.

You don't want an oily cream.

Do call 111 for advice
