Hi I posted about this on here quite a while ago regarding my son and how one of his testicles still haven't dropped that was noticed by myself and our GP at his early 6-9month check everything seemed okay we got referred to a hospital where he then got checked and the nurse said all is well she can feel it and it is in the scrotum where is should be it and it is fully formed it just might need some more time to drop by itself so she said to come back in 1 year time so we could do another check and that if they haven't contacted me in a years time then I should give them a call fast forward to just over a year later (now) I myself have noticed that it has still not dropped so I contacted my GP again because they are the ones that need to refer me and my doctor checks and confirms it still hasn't dropped so he refers me again then I went to me sons 1-2yr development check and I brought this up with my health visitor and she urged me to call the hospital and find out what is going on as my son is 2 years old now and he will most likely need surgery to move it down as it's not dropped by itself in this time and that leaving it any longer isn't ideal so I contacted the hospital and the receptionist on the phone said I can see you are on the waiting list for an appointment but she basically said there's a long waiting list of people and they need to make sure that the right people get the right care in the right order so ofcourse I totally understand that but what's confusing me this is the like the 5th letter I've had that says the exact same thing except the date that says call if I haven't heard anything is different im just wondering is anyone else going through the same thing I just want the best for my son and if he is most likely going to have to have surgery I just wish we could get it over and done with so I no longer have to worry about this anymore scares the life out of me to think he's got to be put to sleep and all those kids of things as I've never been put to sleep or had a surgery like that so I cannot imagine and I know it's only a minor surgery but mums never stop worrying do they about their children do they

Thankyou for any advice and so sorry that this is so long to read xxxx

Hi PinkPanther - I've no advice on this particular topic but I hope you manage to find somebody to speak to on here.
Hope you and your son take good care and that everything turns out fine 💙 x

Unfortunately waits for routine appointments with paediatric surgeons are incredibly long pretty much throughout the country, including for this reason. It sounds from your description that your son is on a waiting list (or a waiting list for a waiting list) and just needs to crawl slowly to the head of it.
