Excessive night sweats

My 5yo for the past few months has had periods of excessive night sweats. I've just gone to tuck him in and his t shirt is drenched, sheet is soaking to the extent I've had to change him. Should I be concerned or is this a passing phase?

Have you noticed any other changes?

He's had tics over the last year or so which I thought were seizures at one point. he's also much more emotional.

Both my two went through phases of night sweats and still get them here and there now - excessive like you say to the point of everything being drenched. Always get it checked if you're worried but I can say I've dealt with this, too - I take the covers off them for a bit when I go in, it always seems to be within the first hour of sleep and then settles.

Thank you so much for replying. I get so worried about wasting gp time for something like this if it's normal. We've had several nights I thought he'd wet the bed but now I think it must've been the sweating. He was only wearing a t shirt tonight and the house is chilly to me!

My DS is having this atm too. He is currently on medication for low iron so it could be a side effect of low iron? He has also been referred for a sleep study to rule out sleep apnoea. Apparently obstructive sleep apnoea ( large tonsils perhaps) can cause night sweats in the early parts of sleep. I am still waiting for an appointment.
