Periods

My DD is 10 and started her periods approx 6 months ago. It seems very early to me and no one in our family has started this early before. She's also started having heavier periods, together with painful cramping. Has anyone else got experience of this?

My DD also started when she was 10 even though everyone in our family started from 14-15. However, her periods were not bad at all. Now she is 15 and they are still very light and only last about 3 days with no cramps. I feel so sorry for your poor daughter regarding the pain as she is so young - have you tried checking with a doctor? But it is most likely normal

Sounds 'normal' to me, DD, myself and my mum all started at this age, as did loads of DD's friends. What are you worried about?

VVirago · 02/09/2024 13:55

My DD has a lot to deal with. Unilateral deafness, ADHD, she's tall for her age. Over 5ft. Her body just seems to be getting ahead of itself but her mind is still a child. It seems as if her body is taking away her childhood.

you could request meds to stop her periods.

What meds would that be? I am in a similar situation with my autistic DD aged 10

@ImRonBurgandy continuous birth control.
