Slapped cheek or scarlet fever?

DS has been diagnosed with slapped cheek but the body rash now has a very sandpaper feel. He does have a sore throat but doesn’t have a red tongue. The doctor diagnosed slapped cheek but the rash seems to have changed. I tried to get another appointment but they can’t see us until next week. If anyone has seen scarlet fever on their child could you let me know if it looks similar? I will try 111 this evening but it’s usually a 6 hour wait here and a further 6-12 in A&E. The photos are his cheek and arm.

The face looks like when my daughter had slapped cheek.

Good luck with 111

I am a GP and it’s hard to tell! Slapped cheek is usually on the cheeks mainly.
If he has a sore throat then he needs to be seen and swabbed and start antibiotics.. can you take him to I’m to an after hours centre?
Best wishes.

Sorry @LunaTheCat and @violetsparkle I only just spotted your replies. It was indeed scarlet fever and he now has antibiotics. Thanks for replying.
